4th-year undergraduate students interested in graduate programs.
3rd-year undergraduate students may also apply if they have a strong interest in graduate programs.
Diligent, highly self-motivated students are always welcome!
Three Steps to Take Before Applying to a Research Lab
Select a research topic of interest or suggest your research interest
Search for related papers and create a list of research labs.
It’s sufficient to check the abstract of the papers.
Check the past lab announcements.
Find out the selection schedule and eligibility requirements.
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit the following documents via email:
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Academic transcript (mandatory)
English test score (Optional)
Research topics of interest
After reviewing the documents, selected applicants will be invited for an individual interview (on/offline).
Example Email for Contacting a Professor as an Undergraduate Researcher
Email Subject: [Undergraduate Researcher Application] I would like to participate in Professor OOO's research lab.
Email Body:
Hello Professor,
My name is OOO, a student in the OO Department, OO University, currently in my Oth year.
I am interested in your research field, particularly your work on (research topic/paper title), and I would like to participate as an undergraduate researcher to gain research experience.
I am especially fascinated by (specific research content) and have gained experience in (related research activities).
Although I may have some shortcomings, I would love to contribute to your research lab and learn from the team.
I have not yet decided on pursuing graduate studies, but if possible, could we have a brief meeting? I can come by at a time that is convenient for you.
If a meeting is not possible, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
